BEN is actually a creepypasta, where the a previous owner of the game Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask had died by drowning. They say he haunts the game cartrige and whoever's the next person to play the game, is its new victim.
Though since the original BEN was a statue in the video game as you play, he can also gain different appearances. One including the statue of course, and the other would be the form you see in the icon, and his third form would make him have the apperance of a Toon Link.
He doesn't talk much, but he hopes to make 'friends'. Ever since the previous friends he had have done something they truely regretted.
